What is FAA?

Food Addicts Anonymous is an organization that believes that Food Addiction is a biochemical disease that occurs at a cellular level and therefore cannot be cured by willpower or by therapy alone. We feel that food addiction is not a moral or character issue. We are not addicted to foods in general, but specifically sugar, flour and wheat. In order to recover from the disease we abstain from these substances. The disease is a physical one. The solution is a spiritual one. We are a 12 Step recovery program.

How Can FAA Benefit my Clients?

FAA has been beneficial to people who have tried numerous methods to control their eating, but have failed again and again. If a food addict abstains from sugar, flour and wheat, their lives change. Many members have found that when they abstain from sugar, flour and wheat, their real feelings surface. If a member is already in therapy, this can accelerate their healing. Some members seek therapy to work through their newly emerging feelings.

How Do Professionals Fit into the FAA Program?

Although many food addicts have had dramatic improvement in their lives, FAA realizes that many members seek the assistance of addiction specialists or medical professionals. Many food addicts have had physical or emotional symptoms that are related to the disease that require professional help. FAA recognizes the value of professionals.
